Mark your calendars for upcoming author events at Kirkwood Public Library in celebration of KPL’s 90th Anniversary!

On Monday, October 3rd at 7:00pm, Laura McHugh will be joining us to talk about her new book Arrowood.arrowood

Arrowood is the most ornate of the grand historical houses that line the Mississippi river in southern Iowa. The house has a mystery it has never revealed: it’s where two small twin girls were abducted twenty years ago. Now their older sister Arden has inherited Arrowood, and she returns to her childhood home determined to establish what really happened to her sisters that traumatic summer. Arrowood is a powerful and resonant novel that examines the ways in which our lives are shaped by memory.

McHugh’s debut novel, The Weight of Blood, won both the 2015 International Thriller Writers award and a Silver Falchion award for best first novel.

On Sunday, November 6th at 2:00pm, Curtis Sittenfeld will be visiting the Library to talk about her new book Eligibleeligible

This version of the Bennet family—and Mr. Darcy—is one that you have and haven’t met before: Liz is a magazine writer in her late thirties who, like her yoga instructor older sister, Jane, lives in New York City. When their father has a health scare, they return to their childhood home in Cincinnati to help—and discover that the sprawling Tudor they grew up in is crumbling and the family is in disarray…

Sittenfeld is the author of the bestselling novels SisterlandAmerican WifePrep, and The Man of My Dreams, which have been translated into twenty-five languages.

Left Bank Books will be on hand at both events for those who would like to purchase a copy of the books for signing.

Emma DeLooze-Klein is the Director of Adult & Community Services at the Kirkwood Public Library.  She is currently reading The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie.
