There truly is a holiday for every occasion! Today -Monday, August 15th, 2016- is City Hall Selfie Day! This year you can celebrate the first City Hall selfie day by –you guessed it- taking a selfie in front of city hall and posting it to social media. Give your biggest smile in front of our beautiful city hall and post it to twitter, Facebook, or the platform of your choice with the hashtag #cityhallselfie. It’s a great way to give a shout-out to our hardworking local government.

We have another kind of selfie going on at your Kirkwood Public Library these days! One of our newest services is called SELF-e. This is a platform for publishing e-books online to participating Missouri libraries. This is an innovative new opportunity for authors to get their books out to audiences; authors can also choose to submit their work for consideration into a curated collection of e-books available across the United States.  Aspiring authors can find more information and a short video here.

Heather Arnold works in the Reference and Administration departments of Kirkwood Public Library. She is currently sipping lemonade to keep cool, and reading Fannie Flagg’s Can’t Wait to Get to Heaven.
