In the dog days of summer, don’t forget a great way to stay cool and keep active by visiting the Kirkwood Aquatic Center! With many pools, slides, and classes to choose from, the Kirkwood pool offers something for everyone. You can see a list of activities and events by visiting the Aquatic Center’s web page.

While you’re enjoying the pool, don’t forget to stop by and visit the book caboose, which is kindly hosted by the Kirkwood Parks and Recreation department. Built for us by the generosity of Riggs Construction and Design, your Kirkwood Public Library keeps the book caboose stocked with books of every type and for every age.  Pick up a free book and enjoy! Keep it forever, return it if you like, or pass it along to a friend.

Swimming and reading go hand in hand with our summer reading theme this year- On Your Mark, Get Set, . . READ! We have great sporty prizes for all ages, including a convenient and stylish KPL water bottle, sports clip key chains, cool wrist bands, and Fitbit Flexes for two lucky winners. Sign up for summer reading for free at the library or online.

We want your mind and body to be healthy and active, so this summer, enjoy a cool book in the hot sun- just don’t forget the sunscreen!

Heather Arnold loves working in customer service and administration at Kirkwood Public Library.  She is currently reading All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders.
