Celebrate the founding of our nation here in Kirkwood this year!  The Kirkwood Pool will be open from 10 am to 6 pm on July 4th.  Then head on over to the annual Fourth of July Freedom Festival and Fireworks, in Kirkwood Park and featuring music from Fanfare at 7pm.  Tropical Moose will be open, the Kirkwood Lions will be supplying food, and there will even be a variety of food trucks on hand.

Of course, be sure to visit your Kirkwood Public Library ahead of time, to stock up on books to read while lounging by the pool or while waiting for the fireworks to start.  We also have a great movie collection, perfect for some indoor cooling- off time.  Nothing says the Fourth of July like some great books about the Founding Fathers, the early history of America, or traveling the country.

The Library will be closed on the actual Fourth of July, but we look forward to seeing you out and about in Kirkwood – and you can always renew items or check out e-books online even during a holiday!

Lisa Henry is the Director of Operations and is planning on watching 1776 on the Fourth!.  Visit your Kirkwood Public Library at 140 E. Jefferson Avenue, or call us at 821-5770.  Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
