As part of the yearlong celebration of our 90th anniversary, Kirkwood Public Library is excited to announce the launch of our Digital Archives on March 2nd at 7:00pm!  Join us for the Kirkwood Libraryunveiling our Digital Archives; an online repository of photographs, documents, and videos chronicling the long and distinguished history of Kirkwood, Missouri and its inhabitants.  There will be a presentation of the site, historical information about the Library and the Kirkwood Parks & Recreation Department followed by a reception.

Over the past year, Library employees have been hard at work finding items of historical and cultural significance to include in the collection. They have scanned, cataloged, and uploaded these items to the digital collection so that the community at large can benefit from their preservation. The collection currently includes photographs of the Kirkwood Public Library building, as well as a large collection of photographs taken by Francis Scheidegger during the 1960s on behalf of the Kirkwood Parks and Recreation Department. Kirkwoodians will be able to access this digitized collection from the comfort of their own homes through the Library’s website.

The Library is also asking for contributions from the public – if you have any pictures, documents, or digital videos you think historically or culturally significant to Kirkwood, you can request the library scan and catalog it to add to their collection.

If you have questions about submitting your own photographs, you can find our policy here under Section 20, or contact Nicholas O’Neal at (314) 821-5770 ext. 1027 or

Emma DeLooze-Klein is the Library Director and is currently reading Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith.  Katie Fransen is a Reference Librarian and is currently reading Murder Walks the Plank by Carolyn Hart.  Visit your Kirkwood Public Library at 140 E.
