If you’re looking for free things to do with your family, then check out these upcoming events and offerings in Kirkwood!

Learn about early literacy practices with your family at Kirkwood Public Library this Friday, April 24th at 7 pm! Babies, toddlers, and their families are invited to come take part in our Family Early Literacy Night where we’ll have activity stations set up that focus on gaining early literacy skills through play, and information for parents on early literacy development at home. Each family that attends will also get a free book!

You can also check out Kirkwood Library’s Family Book Club Kits. Each kit has a theme and contains books that kids, teens, and adults can enjoy, as well as a DVD and a list of activities to do together. See our list of all the Family Book Club Kits here.

Stop by Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 25th at Tillman Elementary. Healthy Kids Day is a national initiative of the YMCA that encourages families to stay active and healthy while having fun! The YMCA will be at Tillman Elementary from 10 am- 12 pm with the Magic House, a variety of outdoor activities and a light snack for kids.  In the event of rain, Healthy Kids day events will take place at the Kirkwood YMCA gym.

The Magic House will hold its next Free Family Night on Friday, May 15. Thanks to Emerson a family of no more than two adults and four children of their own can come to the Magic House and take part in more than 100 hands on exhibits from 5:30-9:00pm.  Free Family Nights are held every third Friday of the month.

Chelsea Bedley is the Assistant Director of Programs and Youth Services. She is currently reading the Heartbreak Messenger by Alexander Vance.  Visit your Kirkwood Public Library at 140 E. Jefferson Avenue, or call us at 821-5770. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
