With the New Year upon us, a lot of us have resolutions on our minds and things we want to accomplish this year. If one of your resolutions has to do with keeping up with changes in technology, discovering new things, brushing up on old computer skills or learning new ones, look no further than your Kirkwood Public Library. We have a computer class on Keyboarding and Typing Thursday, January 15th, and Introduction to Microsoft Office classes Tuesday, January 20th at 6:00 pm and Thursday, January 22nd at 10 am.

Also starting this month are Social Media Saturday classes that will teach you all about different social media sites and how to utilize them both personally and professionally. Saturday, January 24th at 11:00 am we’ll delve into the fun world of Pinterest and on Saturday, January  31st join us for a look at Instagram.

You can also come by KPL during any of our many Drop-In IT Help times throughout the month to help you figure out a new device or for answers to technology questions. If you can’t make any of those times you can also utilize our Grab a Geek service which lets you make an individual appointment to meet one on one with a library staff member regarding any technology help you need.

If your new year’s resolution has to do with getting or keeping in shape check out the great classes offered by the Kirkwood Community Center such as Zumba, Taekwondo, a boot camp, and open volleyball nights that could jump start your fitness goals. For detailed information on these classes check here. For more great ideas for getting in shape check out this list of great fitness books from Kirkwood Public Library.

Chelsea Bedley is the Assistant Director of Programs and Youth Services and is currently reading Yes Please by Amy Poehler. Visit your Kirkwood Public Library at 140 E. Jefferson Avenue, or call us at 821-5770.  Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
