LITERACY PLAY DATES AT KPL:  Thanks to the Racing to Read early literacy grant awarded to Kirkwood Public Library, we will be holding Early Literacy Play Dates at the library on Saturday July 19th and August 23rd from 10 am-12 pm. These play dates will be a great opportunity for babies, toddlers, and their families to come and play at the library, and to see how play helps to enforce early literacy skills. Various play stations will be set up throughout the children’s room including a music station, sensory crawl area, and building block station. There is also an iPad station loaded with great early literacy apps as well as interactive wall panels, a felt board, and a magnet board that will remain in children’s as a permanent early learning area. Come out, have fun and play at the library!  – Submitted by Chelsea Bedley, Assistant Director of Programs and Youth Services at Kirkwood Public Library. She is currently reading Three Times Lucky by Sheila Turnage. Visit the Kirkwood Public Library at 140 E. Jefferson Ave or call at 821-5770.   Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Located in the teen room below the video games are a multitude of board games that can be borrowed and played anywhere in the library by a person of any age. These include Apples to Apples Junior, Chess, Othello, Rainbow Jumbling Towers, and more! There are more board games located behind the teen room desk for play inside the teen room. Available for checkout we have various videogames on the following platforms: Wii, Wii-U, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PS3, PS4, X-box 360, and X-box One. These games checkout for one week and can be renewed. Don’t have anyone to play with?
