While you finalize your Oscar ballots and set your DVRs to record, your Kirkwood Public Library can help you get started on your Academy Award celebrations.

For those of you who haven’t seen the current Best Picture nominees, you can request them now:  American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyer’s Club, Gravity, Her, Nebraska, Philomena, 12 Years a Slave, and The Wolf of Wall Street.  Also check for these and other nominees in our Hot Copy section.

We have you covered with all things Oscar, ranging from the very first film to win Outstanding Picture of the year Wings through last year’s Best Picture Winner Argo.

If you prefer the music, you can listen to Academy Award Winners: 16 Most Requested Songs, Academy Award Themes, or Academy Award Winning Music from M-G-M Classics 1939-1965.

Don’t forget the books!  You can check out our newest book on the subject: 85 Years of the Oscar: The Official History of the Academy Awards by Robert Osborne.  We also have:  Bringing Up Oscar: The Story of the Men and Women who Founded the Academy by Debra Ann Pawlak and Behind the Oscars: The Secret History of the Academy Awards by Anthony Holden. Don’t forget to tune in to the 86th Annual Academy Awards hosted by Ellen DeGeneres this Sunday, March 2nd.
