No, I’m not talking about gas station makeovers. I wish I was. Every month I get an email from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that provides the latest information on the Consumer Price Index. They list data for the U.S., the Midwest, and the West. For the month of March, 2012 the category of Transportation (which encompasses fuel prices) was up 5.3% over a year ago for the Midwest. No surprise there. But I was really surprised to see that there was a category that showed an even higher increase. That category was Apparel. It was up a whopping 7.6% over a year ago. It was a much lower increase for the U.S. and West which leaves me wondering why midwesterners are paying so much more.

This brings me to an interesting bit of news for those who want to stretch their clothing budget. Kirkwood now has a Burlington Coat Factory on South Kirkwood Road next to the Hobby Lobby and opposite Kirkwood Commons. While I love to shop, I love finding a bargain even more. So let us hear about your finds while shopping in Kirkwood.
